Our Mission
“Our mission is to provide safe, affordable, and permanent supportive housing for adults with developmental differences and mental health diagnosis.” CASL sets up its families to succeed and be self-sufficient in their own lives and communities.
Our Belief
We believe that without the security of a place to live, it is impossible for individuals who struggle with homelessness to break the cycle. By providing safe, supportive, and affordable housing choices, CASL strives to reduce and, one day, eliminate homelessness.
Providing Housing & Case Management services EQUALS the CASL Permanent Supportive Housing Model.
CASL, together with our non-profit partners, ensure clients have access to suitable medical and mental health care, financial assistance, and life skills resources to help them achieve their life goals and permanently move out of homelessness.

Our Current Services
CASL is a 501c3 non-profit corporation headquartered in Sarasota, Florida. Beginning in 1998 with our first assisted living facility, Renaissance Manor, we have continued to grow, guided by an 8-member board of local business leaders. CASL provides the following four types of services.
Neighborhood housing
An affordable mixture of single-family, condominium, and group homes for individuals with intellectual and developmental differences or mental health diagnoses.
Independence House
A community home for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities located in Seminole, FL. Efficiency units with a common area for gathering.
Blue Sky / CASL Partnership
A Blue Sky and CASL partnership that provides supportive, affordable, and permanent apartment-style housing for individuals with disabling conditions and workforce housing.
Mariposa Place
A Residential Treatment Facility.
Renaissance Manor
An Assisted Living Facility in central Sarasota, FL, with a limited mental health license, providing 24/7 care for residents that require more acute support with daily living skills.
Our Commitment to Recovery and Self-Sufficiency
CASL believes that every person deserves not only a safe place to live, but a real pathway to a stable and fulfilling life. For adults living with mental health diagnoses, developmental differences, or substance use disorders, that pathway often requires coordinated treatment, peer support, and sustained engagement with recovery services.
Our housing programs are paired with individualized case management that actively connects residents to behavioral health treatment, recovery coaching, life skills development, and employment resources. We measure our success not only by the number of people housed, but by the progress each resident makes toward greater independence, improved health outcomes, and long-term self-sufficiency.
This integrated model — housing paired with treatment and recovery support — reflects CASL’s core belief that people do not just need shelter. They need the tools, care, and community to truly thrive.
